Bonington turns out to be an okay kind of guy. Some of his paintings are far fetched, but there are a few that are pretty interesting. He regales you with stories of his exploits with other artists. In particular, he is particular of Delacroix who he was roommates with in London in the summer of 1825. He tells you all about how they influenced each other: Delacroix convinced Bonington to try painting with some historical subjects while Bonington encouraged Delacroix to restrain his use of color (1).

It starts to seem as though Bonington is just another English Romantic and that the English Romantics are trying to lead you in a circle, especially when he starts telling you about Constable, another English Romantic who won the 1824 Paris Salon gold medal at the same time as Bonington (2). You are unsure if you want to go find Constable to ask about Chucky.

When Bonington senses your hesitation, he suggests that you try his teacher, Baron Gros, who was his teacher in the Ecole des Beaux Arts (1). Bonington seems like such a nice, helpful guy. You pity him because you know that he will die of tuberculosis when he is only 26 years old (2).
